The BoxedArt Guide to Using Website Templates

Saved Flash Changes Do Not Appear in the Template

I edited my Flash source files and the changes do not show in the template....

When you have changed and saved a .fla file and do not see the changes in the web page's .swf movie:

1. Make sure you have created a new .swf movie that reflects the changes you made in the .fla
When you have the .fla open in Flash, pressing the Ctrl and Enter keys on your keyboard will create a new .swf, as will Control > Test Movie from the top menu. You may also use the File > Publish option to create your new .swf.

2. Make sure your new .swf is in the template's "html" folder, replacing the original .swf. By default, the new .swf file will be created in the same folder as its corresponding .fla file - so you may need to copy or move the .swf from your template's "fla" folder into the "html" folder.

3. Check the new .swf's file name - it needs to be the same name as the original .swf. If you do need to change the new .swf's filename, then you must also change all references to it in the .html web page file.

Some examples of HTML source code referring to a .swf movie include:

'src','realestate','quality','high','pluginspage''movie','realestate' )

<param name="movie" value="realestate.swf">

<embed src="realestate.swf">

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="realestate.swf" width="800" height="187">
<param name="movie" value="realestate.swf" />
